The TEAS (ATI TEAS) is the standardized entrance exam used by the majority of nursing and allied health programs in the United States and Canada. It assesses the foundational academic skills you need to succeed in a healthcare program: reading comprehension, math, science (anatomy and physiology, life science, physical science, scientific reasoning), and English and language usage. The exam is computer-based, contains roughly 170 multiple-choice questions, and runs about 209 minutes. Most programs publish their own minimum score requirement.

Dive Deeper into TEAS -
Test of Essential Academic Skills

What does the TEAS exam cover?

The TEAS covers four sections: reading, math, science, and English and language usage. The science section, particularly anatomy and physiology, carries the most weight on most program rubrics.

Who should take the TEAS?

If you are applying to most ADN, BSN, LPN, surgical tech, dental hygiene, or radiologic tech programs in the US or Canada, you will likely need a passing TEAS score. Each school sets its own cut-off.

How should I prepare for the TEAS?

Start with a content review for the four sections, focus extra time on anatomy and physiology, then build to timed full-length practice exams. Our TEAS question bank gives you realistic practice with detailed explanations so you can spot weak areas before test day.

Prepare for TEAS with Confidence

Earning a strong TEAS score positions you for admission into the nursing or allied health program of your choice. With solid scores in reading, math, science, and English, you demonstrate the academic foundation programs look for.
